ABOUT MY WORK
The motivation for my work is to paint stories and allegories that I find meaningful. I use magical or mythical backgrounds which echo the ancient settings that inspire me. The value of ancient stories could be seen as irrelevant to us today as they are from a different historical era and place. Many of these stories can be related to our own experiences of life today. They include the normal range of human feelings in life such as love, hate, fear and isolation. By comparing cultural behaviours, we can develop an understanding and tolerance to ethnic diversities today.
ARTISTS BIOGRAPHY
Anne has been a practicing artist since 1988 when she gained a Fine Art BA Hons Degree followed by a teaching certificate. Her work centres around people, their interaction and how they behave. She uses myths and legends as a vehicle to investigate human behaviour in a pictorial way.
Anne has exhibited her work worldwide and currently works from her studio in North London. She has written and illustrated a small children’s teaching and colouring book. It is based on the Quaker testimonies relevant to us all - Peace, Equality, Truth and Simplicity. ‘A Book About PETS’, sells at the Quaker bookshop 173 Euston Road London NW1 2BJ.
